Triple award by TÜV SÜD

On Monday at drinktec, Krones AG was awarded three major accreditations by TÜV SÜD. Volker Kronseder, Executive Board Chairman of Krones, and Executive Board Members, Werner Frischholz and Christoph Klenk were delighted to accept certificates for the integrated management system (IMS), the sustainability report and the enviro sustainability programme. The awards were presented by the Chairman of the Board of TÜV SÜD AG, Dr. Axel Stepken, who said: “Krones has placed sustainable management at the heart of its corporate strategy and is a beacon for the entire industry. These three certificates testify to this.”

IMS accreditation, which is recognised to be the highest standard in the world, combined the existing quality management systems into one integrated system for quality (DIN EN ISO 9001), environmental protection (DIN EN ISO 14001) and occupational safety (BS OHSAS 18001) which was then validated by TÜV SÜD.  “We are very proud to be one of the first beverage machine manufacturers to have received accreditation from TÜV SÜD, an independent, globally recognised testing body,” Werner Frischholz, Krones Executive Board Member for Quality Management, commented delightedly.

What is more, during the IMS accreditation process TÜV SÜD audited the extent to which sustainable aspects are integrated into the management systems. For this reason, the sustainability report for 2008 was also successfully validated and accredited for the first time. Dr. Stepken of TÜV SÜD put in a nutshell: “Krones AG’s claim to sustainability has been firmly embedded throughout the entire company. And more than that - sustainability is the reality at Krones.”

Krones’ enviro sustainability programme was likewise accredited by TÜV SÜD. This allows Krones to attach the enviro standard logo for energy/media efficiency and eco-compatibility to individual machines and systems. Krones also supplies an enviro passport which provides a high level of transparency with which to compare the consumption data of different machines. The enviro mark thus gives customers confidence that the machines they receive have been developed for optimum economic and environmental sustainability.

Volker Kronseder concluded by emphasising, “Projects such as IMS and enviro are absolutely essential if Krones is to continue to meet customer requirements in all aspects on into future as well. These successful accreditations underline Krones’ status as the global market leader – also in the area of sustainability.”
